This piece is certainly an interesting depiction of the dichotomy of the Yin and Yang concept. Your ingenuity must be applauded.

The images present on either side of the piece work very well in symbolizing the light/dark aspect of the "whole," though the distribution of images seems to favor the darker side; mainly due to the large space reserved for the rainbow. However, since the majority of the content on the dark side seem to possess elongated features (tentacles and the like,) I realize this may be a case of mistaken perception on my own part. Also, the level of detail that is present in the darker half far outstrips the majority of the light side (though one could argue this is simply the nature of the two halves; one serious and the other carefree.)

Upon examining the two faces it appears that, much like the halves themselves, there is a bit more detail afforded to the darker half. Not exactly addressing the spider (a fine touch, by the way,) but rather the attention to shading. There seems to be a better sense of lighting on the above face, whereas the lower (happier) face remains a rather constant shade. Of course, this is not necessarily a bad thing. The whole idea of the Yin and Yang comes across quite well through the somber, shaded face, and a joyful face simply awash in light.
